Installation & the rules that apply
This is a multi-split. The same EPA Section 608 certified-technician requirement as a single split, applied across a bigger system. Because it touches multiple rooms and routes line sets through the structure, it more often triggers a full permit set (mechanical, electrical and sometimes building), HOA architectural approval, and written landlord consent. Local noise limits at the property line apply to the outdoor unit just as for a single split, though one shared condenser is usually easier to get approved than several separate ones.
