50 dB(A) indoors, about as loud as a refrigerator.

What size room does the Friedrich 9,000 BTU Zone Premier PTAC with Heat Pump cool?

It is rated to cool a room up to 400 sq ft (9,000 BTU · 2.6 kW).

Do I need a professional to install the Friedrich 9,000 BTU Zone Premier PTAC with Heat Pump?

Usually, yes. A PTAC installs in a wall sleeve with an outdoor grille and runs on its own dedicated circuit, so a new installation (the wall opening, sleeve, grille and wiring) is work for a contractor and an electrician. Swapping one into an existing PTAC sleeve with matching power is a simpler like-for-like replacement.

Will it fit your wall sleeve?

Fits standard 42 x 16-inch PTAC sleeves, other makers' included, without a baffle kit as long as the sleeve is no deeper than 13¾ inches (a deeper sleeve needs one). A new installation needs Friedrich's PDXWS sleeve and an outdoor grille, sold separately. Source: Friedrich PTAC brochure

Installation & the rules that apply

This is a packaged terminal air conditioner (PTAC). It sits in a wall sleeve with an outdoor grille and runs on its own circuit, so the window-unit mounting and bracket rules do not apply to it. A new opening or circuit usually needs building and electrical permits and, in a condo, co-op or historic building, approval first.
