Will it fit your wall sleeve?

Friedrich says the Uni-Fit fits existing 24½, 26 and 27-inch sleeves, and lists these makers' sleeves (25½ to 27 inches wide) as compatible: Amana, Carrier 51S and 52F, Fedders/Emerson, Friedrich WallMaster (WSE), GE/Hotpoint, Whirlpool, Frigidaire and White-Westinghouse. A trim ring covers gaps of up to 1 inch at the sides and ½ inch at the top, and in an existing sleeve Friedrich's manual has you replace the old rear grille with the one in the kit. A new installation needs Friedrich's USC or USEZ sleeve, sold separately. Source: Friedrich Uni-Fit brochure (sleeve table)

Installation & the rules that apply

This is a through-the-wall air conditioner. It sits in a sleeve built into an exterior wall, so the window-unit mounting and bracket rules do not apply to it. Swapping it into an existing sleeve is a like-for-like replacement; cutting a new opening changes the building's exterior wall, which usually needs a building permit and, in a condo, co-op or historic building, approval first.

Common questions about the Friedrich Uni-Fit 10,000 BTU Through-the-Wall AC

What size room does the Friedrich Uni-Fit 10,000 BTU Through-the-Wall AC cool?
It is rated to cool a room up to 450 sq ft (10,000 BTU · 2.9 kW).
Do I need a professional to install the Friedrich Uni-Fit 10,000 BTU Through-the-Wall AC?
Not to replace a unit, but usually yes for a new opening. Sliding it into an existing wall sleeve it fits is a job you can do yourself (it is heavy, so plan on two people), with no refrigerant work. A new installation means cutting an opening through an exterior wall and fitting a sleeve, which is contractor work and usually needs a building permit.
